Continuing to Connect

Russ & Pierre

Yes, this is my friend Pierre from South Africa.  Yes, we're sharing a moment at the Cape, and while I laugh at this image, I'm reminded of the group of people that I get to work with. Leaders that I call friends.  Leaders that I get to spend time with.  Leaders that I get to listen to.  Leaders that I hopefully am able to encourage.  What a thrill to journey through life with a group of people committed to impacting the world!  Pierre represents about 44 others just like him that I call my friends and coworkers!  It's a good day to be connected!

Investing in the Future

My good friend Jack came to see me last week.  Jack is a little over 2 years old, and I've had the privilege of knowing him all his life.  He's one of my favorite kids, and I don't get to see him near as much as I'd like to.

It's just amazing to see him grow up.  He's talking more, he's thinking differently and he's really changing.

I'm reminded when I look at Jack of growth and of investment.

His parents pour into him every day.  His extended family and their friends invest into Jack's life and development. Because of this effort, he's growing.

There is such value in investing into the lives of others.  Seeing them grow, develop, mature and eventually, begin to invest in others is an amazing process.

I've had so many people that have poured into my life throughout my life, and they have helped me to become who I am today.

What about you?  Who are you investing your life into?  Who has poured into you?

If you want to talk about "return on investment", there's no greater joy than seeing others grow and develop as a result of your input into their life.

Balance

I got a paddle board a couple of weeks ago.  Yes, it's the dead of winter, but remember that I live in Southern California.

The board is 12 feet long and it's made for people like me.  You stand on it, paddle around the harbor, and it's a great workout and it's just beautiful being on the water.

Oh yea, there's that thing about "balance".  You are constantly making sure your feet are in the right place, making sure you're standing in the middle of the board, and as you paddly, you have to compensate for the pressure you're putting out.  It's a lot of work.

My first time on the board, I fell in the water twice.  I was reminded that it was "winter in Southern California too".

The next time out, I went fairly slowly, but I gained confidence and control.

The last time I went out, the balance came easily, I didn't fear falling in the water, and I was able to get the board moving pretty quickly.

Just like life.

*Sometimes, finding the right balance takes time, practice and even failure.

*The more you live with balance, the more comfortable you'll be and you'll be able to do more

*Even when you're completely out of balance, you can find that center;  find that "sweet spot" and get back to that point.  Don't quit.

I'm heading to the harbor for another ride.

A New Year

A New Year is upon us.  Time keeps moving forward!  It's hard to believe.

In 2011 we're excited about a couple of strategic events:

*Our Leader Mundial Global Leadership Summit will take place in Ecuador the 4th - 8th of April. This is our 5th Summit and we're excited about the momentum that continues to come from this group of leaders and partners.

*We'll take a step forward with the launch of our regional Summits this year to be held in Latin America, Africa and in Asia. These are being scheduled now, and this is a clear step of multiplication as our regional leaders are impacting others from within their influence.

*Our merger with Extreme Response will be complete.  We will look at ways to provide leadership training and coaching to each of ER's partners around the world, requiring us to develop a workable online delivery system of training and resources.

*We will develop a "Partnership Counsel", bringing together key members that will help us strategize about our future growth and impact.

It's a good year!  I'm ready!  Are you?

Transition!

I've underestimated the power of "TRANSITION".

What began in June as a simple change in our lives has turned into a major transition!  I looked up the word in the dictionary, and this is the given definition:  "The process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another".  That sounds simple enough, right?

Here's the transition that's been taking place:

•On July 1st, Leader Mundial Inc. officially merged with Extreme Response International.  While the scope of the Leader Mundial Summit Community doesn't change, this merger expands Leader Mundial's global presence by extending our training, coaching and resources to all of the Extreme Response Partners around the world.

•On July 1st, Russ and Gina Cline, Leader Mundial's President/CEO, moved to Southern California.  This was a strategic move enabling us to recruit new Partners, easing the travel load and allowing Russ & Gina to fulfill some other goals they have.  This moved followed 16 years of life and work in Ecuador.

•Russ & Gina also experienced some personal transition in their family.... 2 kids in college, 1 daughter starting in a new high school, and Gina going back to Grad school to pursue her degree in Counseling Psychology.

•The transition also includes setting up an office, finding a place to live, getting a vehicle, developing new friendships, re-learning the US culture, and so many other things.

Transition is hard!  Transition takes time!  Transition is exhausting.

Many of you face transition all the time in your life.

Here's what I'm learning in through this process....

1)  Relax.

2)  It takes time... don't rush it!

3)  Don't try to do it alone.  Get some people to walk with you.

4)  Learn to listen first.  Ask lot's of questions.

5)  It takes time... don't rush it!

6)  Relax.

While our transition continues, I'm thinking about many of you that are also in the middle of it all!

You're not alone.

Russ...
